So we all want the blushing bridal glow on our wedding day, right?! Well…beautiful make-up begins with beautiful skin! I highly encourage all of my brides to be to start a regular skincare regimen at least 4-6 months before your special day. Beauty with Julie provides our brides with product recommendations which are geared towards your specific skincare concerns. The following are a few of our Pro Tips for gorgeous glowing skin!
Cleanse your face twice—the first cleanse removes the day and the second one actually cleans your skin. Impurities from the day can clog pores and cause breakouts. Clean skin provides the perfect surface so that night creams can be most effective. Your skin repairs itself at night. One of the reasons it is important to use skincare at night is that cleaning your skin/removing the day gives your skin a fighting chance.
Protect your skin and use sunscreen! Sunscreen can be found as a lotion, spray, gel or other topical product which absorbs or reflects some of the sun’s UV radiation on the skin exposed to sunlight, thus helping protect against sunburn. Sunscreen is extremely important to incorporate into your skincare regimen, we do not want any unwanted dark spots appearing before the special day!
Regular exfoliation of the skin is an important part of a good anti-aging, blemish-reducing, skin care regimen. I suggest exfoliating 1-2 times per week. By doing this, you’ll help to diminish the ability for acne-causing bacteria to thrive inside the pores, lessening blemish activity. Exfoliating is very important, especially in the winter. Often when the skin is dry, we tend to load up on heavier creams to compensate for the dryness. But dry skin means you have dry skin cell buildup. Instead, increase your exfoliation to remove the dry skin cells, and then moisturize the new skin cells, resulting in a moister skin.
It’s a fact that rough, dry skin = dull, tired-looking skin. Healthy, glowing skin = light reflective skin. Applying moisturizer creates a barrier on your skin that keeps oils from escaping and harmful outside elements from causing dryness or irritation. Give your skin a drink and stay hydrated!
♥ Eye Cream & Vitamin C
Getting rid of dark circles and under eye puffiness is one complaint I hear about very often from my clients. Lack of sleep, allergies, climate, stress, salty foods and genetics can be the cause for both conditions. I believe the best under eye cream to instantly brighten tired eyes is an eye cream that contains Vitamin C. In fact, Vitamin C is critical for your body and plays an important role in maintaining healthy, resilient skin.
♥ Drink Water
Our bodies use water for essential hydration. It has no fat, calories, carbs or sugar so it’s the most pure thing you can put into your body. Water helps our lymphatic system detoxify by flushing out impurities and helps with cellular regeneration. And most importantly, this simple routine of drinking water helps maintain beautiful, youthful skin!
Glow on girl…your illuminating complexion awaits!! Xo
