A Look Inside…Favorite Makeup Brushes

Here is a look inside what the Beauty with Julie girls have in their makeup kits at all times…

There are a TON of different makeup brushes out there on the market so we completely understand how confusing it can be and why we are consistently asking what brush to use for what purpose. Luckily, we are here to give you an exclusive look inside what brushes we know and love!

First up, we have the Zoeva 221 Luxe Soft Crease brush. We love Zoeva brushes because they’re super soft, affordable, and give professional results. This brush in particular is great for smoking out your crease because it’s not too big and not too small. It’s natural-synthetic hair mix will blend shadows flawlessly!

Pro Tip: Natural hair is better for powder products while synthetic hair is great for both cream/liquid or powder products.

2368337Next, we have the Elf Studio Small Precision Brush. Elf Cosmetics brushes are a great quality for their affordable price. This specific brush is ideal for the inner corner of the eye and bottom lash line because of its size and shape. It’s affordability and accessibility makes it a perfect choice for beginner to professional artists.

Favorite Foundation Brush Alert! This is the Sigma F82 Round Kabuki Brush. A smidge higher in price point, but extremely worth it. Its soft, densely packed hairs provide an airbrush finish to the skin. Sigma Beauty is available online so be sure to check them out!

We love the Real Techniques Blush Brush for its durability, mid-price range, and quality. This brush is great for blush, bronzer, or all over powder due to its precision application and multi-purpose use. This brush also washes well and keeps its shape!

Lastly, the C427 Tapered Duo Fiber Blush Brush by Crown Brush is ideal for blush, but could also be used for bronzer, highlighter, or foundation. Duo fiber brushes have less hair on top, allowing it to pick up less product to achieve a flush of energy on the cheeks. Crown Brush is reasonably priced and available online.

Maigan & Nick’s State Room Wedding

Maigan and Nick celebrated their marriage on October 18, 2014, at The State Room located in the heart of downtown Albany, New York. This sweet couple met in the library of the Sage College of Albany and from this point on it was pure bliss! I was fortunate to meet Maigan from The Knot Wedding Network. It has been a pleasure working with her as we developed a flawless look for her wedding day! I just love her simplistic yet passionate outlook on life. Maigan carried this through on her big day by incorporating a very special and sentimental surprise within her gorgeous bouquet done by her maid of honor. Maigan and Nick, it means so much to have witnessed the joy of your wedding day. Congratulations to you both on finding the perfect person to share all your days with!

A huge thank you to the extremely talented Trisha Millier for capturing these wonderful moments of Maigan and Nick’s special day! You can visit more of her amazing work here.

Emily & Simon’s Hancock Shaker Village Wedding

DSC_1973 (2)On 10.11.14 an English Groom (Simon) married his beautiful American Bride (Emily) at the  historic Hancock Shaker Village located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. I have so enjoyed working with Emily since April of 2014. For her special day, Emily decided on a natural eye with a hint of gray smoke to bring out her striking brown eyes, airbrush make-up, and eyelashes! I also had the pleasure of glamming for her sister/maid of honor and best friend, who were also apart of Emily’s bridal party.  Hair was done by the talented ladies of Sei Bella Salon of Chatham, New York. Emily’s wedding style exudes pure rustic elegance which compliments their colorful Autumn day! Now for the images…can we say Amazing?! I am beyond impressed with the talent of Sheri Angeles of Swanky Fine Art Weddings based in Southern California! Be sure to visit their page to see a glimpse of their incredible work! Thank you Emily and Simon, I’m so thankful you chose Beauty with Julie to witness the start of something so beautiful!

“Julie did such an amazing job on my wedding day makeup. She understood exactly what I wanted. When I was hesitant to use the airbrushing from a previously bad experience, I trusted that Julie understood my skin complexion and it looked perfect! The false eyelashes I had looked very real and natural- not too over the top.  We had such a fun time getting ready with Julie and I highly recommend her to any brides and wedding party members.”

Meghan & Brian Goodspeed’s Happily Ever After

Beauty with Julie had the pleasure of performing bridal make-up services for the beautiful Meghan Goodspeed as she married the love of her life and best friend, Brian, of 10 years! Meghan and Brian tied the knot at The Inn at Erlowest, a magnificent stone castle located on beautiful and historic Lake George, in the heart of the majestic Adirondack Mountains. I also had the pleasure of working with Meghan’s sweet and fun family (she is one of four sisters!) who lit up the room with laughter! Meghan is a natural beauty and so easy going, its no wonder she looked flawless on her wedding day! As the morning turned to afternoon, the final touch ups began for Meghan and her bridal party. During this time, tears started to form for a very emotional “first look” reveal to Brian. From today forward, you’ll be partners in a great adventure. Here’s to wishing that you’ll grow even closer as you work together to make your dreams come true and that you’ll look back on this day as only the beginning of your beautiful happily-ever-after!

Love is the shortest distance between hearts – Jill & Brian Pritchett Say “I Do”

Words cannot express how happy I am for one of my dearest and oldest friends who married her soul mate and best friend on September 13, 2014 at the Onteora Mountain House nestled in the catskill mountains. This venue easily captured my heart and will remain a favorite of mine! So…two years living in different area codes, but no matter the miles between them Jill and Brian have always been there for each other. Jill and Brian are a perfect pair who have made it so easy for each other! As they said their own vows and “I do’s,” it was truly a tender and triumphant moment for the two of them. I could literally feel their love and pride through the strength of their embrace..”We did it!” They portray an unconditional love that I know will last forever and always. Congratulations to the both of you, I wish you a lifetime of happiness on your next adventure together!!
